Chelsea face Man City on opening WSL weekend

Chelsea became the first Womens Super League side to finish a 22-game season unbeaten in 2024-25

Champions Chelsea will host Manchester City on the opening weekend of the new Womens Super League season.

Sonia Bompastors side will begin their quest for a seventh successive title by facing City on Friday, 5 September at 19:30 BST.

Promoted side London City Lionesses start their first season in the top flight with a visit to Champions League winners Arsenal, a game that will be shown live on the BBC at 13:30 on 6 September.

A Merseyside derby - with Liverpool hosting Everton - is one of four fixtures that will kick off at noon the following day.

Elsewhere on 7 September, Brighton will be at home to Aston Villa, Leicester City will travel to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will host West Ham United.

For the first time, Arsenal will play all of their WSL home games in a season at Emirates Stadium.

Chelsea made history as they went unbeaten across their 22 games in 2024-25, the first season under French manager Bompastor.

Manchester City, who finished fourth last year, are now managed by former Denmark boss Andree Jeglertz.
