Jos Buttler stroked 64 not out and Sonny Banker marked his first England call-up with three wickets as Manchester Originals boosted their mens Hundred hopes by beating rivals Northern Superchargers by 57 runs at Old Trafford.

Former England captain Buttlers boundary-hitting looked effortless as he made his second fifty in as many innings in Originals 171-3.

When reaching his fifty he again looked to the sky in tribute to his father who died earlier this month.

While Buttlers innings provided the backbone of Originals score, Heinrich Klaasen took the game away from Superchargers at the death by hitting 30 runs from the final seven balls.

The South Africa international had only 20 after 18 balls but ended 50 not out from 25 in a timely return to form.

In reply, Superchargers, who would have gone top of the table with a win, slipped to 63-5 as Zak Crawley with 16, Harry Brook 11 and Dawid Malan 19 all failed to go on after starts.

David Miller made 38 before being bowled by a Josh Tongue slower ball and 22-year-old Baker, picked by England for next months white-ball matches against South Africa and Ireland, took the final two wickets as Superchargers were dismissed for 114 in 87 balls.

Baker and Tongue both finished with 3-21.

The hosts only won one of their first four matches but join Southern Brave and London Spirit on eight points. Superchargers are four better off in third.

Were off to Southampton on Monday for a double-header between Southern Brave and Oval Invincibles.

The womens game gets going at 15:00 BST, with the mens match following at 18:30.
